What is Focus on the Family's The Truth Project®?

In a recent study, the Barna Research Group revealed a stunning statistic that continues to reverberate throughout the evangelical world. Only 9 percent of professing Christians have a biblical worldview.

Because of this, today's believers live very similarly to non-believers. A personal sense of significance is rarely experienced, we spend our money and time on things that fail to satisfy and we begin to wonder what life's ultimate purpose really is.

We are, in short, losing our bearings as a people and a nation.To counter this slide within the body of Christ, we are launching one of the most ambitious and powerful projects in the history of our ministry—Focus on the Family's The Truth Project.

The Truth Project is a DVD-based small group curriculum comprised of 12 one-hour lessons taught by Dr. Del Tackett. This home study is the starting point for looking at life from a biblical perspective. Each lesson discusses in great detail the relevance and importance of living the Christian worldview in daily life.

The Farmers, Joe, Beth, David, Matthew and Kathryn, are leaving soon to a new misson field-one in Michigan. As you know, before they left the United States and the Middle East, they had to give away or sell many of their belongings. As a result, they are in need of many things.

Please join us on January 31st, along with the Superior Alliance Church, to say goodbye to the Farmers once again, and to help them stock up on the many items they will need in their new home.

We will be having a brunch on Saturday, January 31st at 10:00 am in our church fellowship hall. Please see the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board for a few items we need for the meal. Also bring a breakfast/brunch dish to share, for example: egg bake, fruit, muffins.

If you would like to bring a gift for the Farmers, they are registered at Target. See the sheet on the bulletin board as to how you can look them up.

Have fun shopping and we will see you there!

Beautiful and Terrible Love

Many in our culture think that love would never allow discomfort, pain, or loss in the life of a loved one. But God, our Good Shepherd, the LORD Jesus, knows better. In Hannah Hurnard's Hinds' Feet on High Places, the main character, "Much Afraid" was lead by the Good Shepherd through many struggles and trials. Nearing the end of her journey to victory, "Much Afraid" remembers the wise saying of one the Shepherd's servants, "Love is beautiful, but it is also terrible - terrible in its determination to allow nothing blemished or unworthy to remain in the beloved."

So maybe you're struggling with trials or suffering through some tribulation. It would be wise to remember that God's Love is beautiful and terrible. In His love He most likely is removing some blemish or something unworthy. The question is will we submit to Him and cooperate or will we resist. The greatest peace and joy will come when we learn to let Him have His will and His way in every area of life.

The Lord's Prayer Pattern

How's your prayer life? Do you know how to pray? Would you like to learn?

Then go and find your Bible and open it up to the following: Matthew 6:5-15

In these verses you will find the "The Lords Prayer". This prayer can be a pattern for how we should pray. We should praise God, pray for His work in the world, pray for our daily needs, and pray for help in our daily struggles. We should continually seek Him out day and night.

Pay attention to verse 6, where it talks about praying in private. How many times did Jesus search out time alone to be with His Father? That's right, more times then we can count! So think about this, how come we don't? Prayer is a privilege...God wants to hear from us.

We are just learning how to blog so we ask for your patience. The ladies will try to keep you posted on the happening's of our women's group as time goes by.

For those of you who are interested we have a women's bible study at the Duluth Alliance Community Church on Monday evenings at 7:00 pm, all ladies are welcome to attend.

The subject we are studying is:

The "I AM's" of Christ, will enable women to see who they are in Christ. Women face many crises in life. When Jesus reveals Himself, we will not need to live in a crisis mode. Jesus is the Living Water who will quench our spiritual thirst.
